Op 'n Septemberdag in 1963, is June Mullins vir die soveelste keer in 'n psigiatriese inrigting opgeneem. Agter haar was 10 jaar van magtelose stryd teen verdowingsmiddels. Elke moontlike vorm van rehabilitasie wat die samelewing kon bied, het misluk.
            Nadat die staaldeur agter haar toegesluit is, kyk June in die kamer rond. Daar is 'n klein vensterjie, met 'n staal skerm daarvoor, 'n bed en 'n laaikas met vier laaie. En 'n swart boek, wat sy dadelik as die Bybel herken, op die kas.
"Ag, nee, nie dít nie! Wat doen ek daarmee?" Sy kan dit nie uitgooi nie. Die deur en die venster is gesluit. Die laaikas! Sy trek die onderste laai oop en gooi die boek in die laai. Sy stof haar hande af asof sy van 'n las ontslae is. June gaan op haar bed lê.
Kort-kort betrap sy haarself dat sy na daardie vierde laai lê en kyk. Dit is asof die laai twee oë het wat haar aanstaar. Teen die vierde dag kan sy dit nie meer verduur nie. Sy dink: "Miskien moet ek dit uithaal en bietjie daarin lees. Dan sal my siel miskien rus kry."
            June voel 'n benoudheid in haar toe sy oorstap na die laaikas toe en die Bybel uithaal. Dit is soos 'n lewende ding in haar hande en sy weet nie wat om daarmee te doen nie. Sy erg haar vir haarself oor haar gewaarwording.
Waar moet sy lees? Vir baie, baie jare het sy nooit die Bybel gelees nie. Vir haar is die Bybel net 'n kerkboek met 'n klomp hoofstukke en klompe onverstaanbare en onsamehangende verse.
            Sy gaan sit op haar bed en maak die Bybel half in die middel oop. Waar sy oopmaak, begin sy lees. Sy het by Psalm 40 oopgemaak.
Dit is haar eie lewensverhaal wat sy begin lees: "Ek het die HERE lank verwag en Hy het Hom na my toe neegebuig en my hulpgeroep gehoor; en Hy het my uit die kuil van vernietiging, uit die modderige slyk opgetrek en my voete op 'n rots gestel; Hy het my gange vasgemaak."
Sy hou aan lee, hoofstuk na hoofstuk. Ses dae later word sy uit die inrigting ontslaan. Genoeg gestabiliseer om huis toe te gaan.
            Sy het uitgegaan, met die Woord van God en die belofte van Psalm 40 by haar. 'n Week later het sy die HERE Jesus Christus as haar Verlosser aangeneem. Nege jaar later getuig sy:, "Komende September, sal dit elf jaar wees vandat ek daardie middag God se belofte van redding gelees het.
“Wat in my begin is, word steed sterker en beter."
            Inderdaad: "U het my 'n nuwe lied in die mond gelê." Ps 40:4

Carol Waisanen gave a talk at her church about “Facing Your Giants” on May 7th. She and her husband, Don, share pastoral duties at Solid Rock Restoration Church in Riverside, California.
“When all human hope is gone as a possibility, Abraham placed his faith and hope in God,” Carol declared that morning, preaching from Romans 18. “Have you ever gone through a trial and felt like you were staggering? When everything looks impossible – dead – you can still say you believe in the impossible?
“Like Abraham, we all face our giants…”
That same evening, Carol began to feel sick. “She threw up and we thought she had food poisoning,” Don says. Her condition continued to deteriorate through the week.

On May 12th Don rushed her to the emergency room at Kaiser Hospital in Fontana. After running a variety of tests, doctors returned with a grim report.
Carol was diagnosed with uterine cancer. The fast-growing tumor created a blockage in her abdomen, triggering her symptoms.
As the days went by, Carol continued to decline. On the 19th she was transferred to ICU.
“All of her vital signs were disintegrating fast,” Don recounts. The tumor had tripled in size, impacting other organs. Pneumonia had set into her lungs, affecting her breathing. She had blood clots in her legs and other infections that were life threatening. Her vital organs were shutting down as she lapsed into a coma.
“Her condition was so grave that the doctors only gave her a 3% chance of survival and predicted that she probably wouldn’t last the next 24 hours.”
Don was told to make preparations for her funeral. Still, a small group of intercessors from their church gathered at the hospital to pray for Carol in the waiting room.
The following day Carol was transferred from ICU to hospice care, signaling the end was near. “She was in tremendous pain,” Don says. “She said she didn’t want to be sustained by artificial means and I was in a quandary about what to do.”
Don continued to have faith that God could heal his wife. “I know this looks impossible,” he told the doctors, “but please continue to give her water and nutrition,” believing that a supernatural God could override their desperate circumstances.

recounts. He encouraged people to spread the word via email and over the Internet, and soon got word that people were praying from Canada to the UK, New York, Florida, Texas, Nevada and throughout California.
Amazingly – later that night — Carol came out of the coma and began to speak!
Within hours of the massive prayer offensive, the pneumonia disappeared and her breathing normalized. Her other organs began to function properly.
“Life returned to our Carol!” Don exults. Her doctors are completely dumbfounded, saying ‘this is the most amazing thing they’ve ever seen.’
“This is the most incredible, Lazarus-like story of healing I’ve ever personally experienced,” he says.
Don and his son were preparing for a funeral, but now are preparing for her return home May 31st.
“We believed God could intervene. All signs indicated that the end was near. She didn’t die but lives to declare the works of the Lord,” he says.
“I believe she will do well at home,” he continues. “At home she will have peace and tranquility. I think it is important to stress that she is still in a fragile condition.  We are believing God, in spite of medical prognosis, for complete healing and restoration.”
In her last message, “Facing Your Giants,” Carol said: “When we face a new trial, it is often a sign we are entering into a new dimension. God uses the trial as a preparation for a new thing to come.
“This is for me today, too. There is a transition time. There is a time of waiting. It’s like waiting for healing. Sometimes you get miraculous healing and sometimes it’s a recovery,” she said.

The video, which was uploaded to social media on Friday has stunned viewers who declare the tiny tot’s attempt to walk is nothing short of a miracle.

The midwife cradling the little mite across the chest and supporting her weight with one arm can’t believe what she is seeing, as the amazing infant wrestles to walk on her own.

The nurse, who is dressed in surgical robes with a clinical mask over her mouth, is heard crying out in amazement: “Oh my gosh, the girl is walking. Good gracious!”

Another person in the room who is capturing the moment on camera declares: “Wait let me film this.”

They then shout for another colleague called Ju, probably short for Julia, to come to witness the unbelievable moment.

“Ju, Ju come and see this,” they cry.

The midwife seen in the video, explains she has been trying to give the baby a bath but the child just wants to get up and walk.

“Merciful father. I was trying to wash her here and she keeps getting up to walk,” she explains pointing with one hand to where she initially tried to lay the baby down to give the child her first bath.

“She has walked from here to here,” she adds indicting the area the child has already covered.
